Ealdwood provides knowledge and expertise to a wide range of forestry and woodland conservation management projects. We specialise in ancient woodland restoration, management of plantations on anciently wooded sites and the application of geographic information systems to woodland management.
A good management plan is essential to sustainable woodland management. Our management plans assess the ecological, resource and amenity features within a woodland, and design operations to bring each feature into favourable condition. Our plans are all produced to UKFS standards and as such qualify for grant funding. All our plans are also produced fully on GIS systems so that they are accurate, easily update-able and responsive to changing situations. Reports can be produced in any format answering almost any requirement as the need arises.
For operations within a management plan, or those which have been planned previously, we can ensure they run smoothly from grant applications, Felling Licences, contract arrangement, through Operational Site Assessments, to overseeing the actual work. We work closely with a network of local contractors whose knowledge of local timber markets and resources can make an operation profitable where otherwise it might not be.
We consult on a wide range of woodland related projects, from feasibility studies for habitat restoration, woodland creation schemes and community woodlands, to applying GIS to woodland assessment and planning.
